Hot…..hot…..hot

and it’s may continue for at least the next two weeks. So although it’s great weather for enjoying the garden, please spare a thought for your lawn.
Hot weather causes stress in the grass plant, which is not good. Giving it a well earned drink will really be appreciated, about one half to one inch is fine, about every two days. A easy way to measure the amount of water applied is to use a rain gauge. The best time to water is early in the morning, when there is less wind and the sun has not got too hot. Try not to water at night as this can cause fungal diseases such as Red Thread.
Mowing as high as possible will keep the plant healthy and reduce evaporation from the soil.
