Some of the services we offer at Mid and South Hampshire lawn care (Lawnscience)

Scarification

Scarification is a process of removing unwanted organic material from around grass (thatch). It will also remove moss. Undertaking this allows nutrients such as fertiliser, oxygen, and water to get to the root system.

Aeration

Aeration involves piercing the lawn to allow water, oxygen, fertilisers amongst other nutrients to enter the soil more efficiently and reach the lawns roots. There are two types of Lawn Aeration: Solid and Hollow core.  We will test your lawn and advise the most appropriate service.

Re-seeding

We will assess the reason for over seeding. If the lawn is in shade, we recommend a mixture of seed that is more suitable to shady conditions. If you need a more resilient lawn, to cope with higher traffic we suggest a mixture to suit or If you want to improve the general look of your lawn, we offer premium mixtures that will do this. All the above need to be applied correctly and we use the appropriate machinery and techniques.

Fertilisation

Application of the correct, seasonally balanced fertiliser, is paramount in both the health and look of your lawn. During the year your lawn requires different nutrients to help various processes take place. We provide these applications during the year as part of an annual treatment plan. We can arrange a plan, so you know it will be done each season without fail or if you prefer, we can undertake a one of application. As we bulk buy our products, we are often cheaper than doing it yourself.

Pest control

There are a multitude of grass pests that thrive in the UK and in Hampshire. Many grass pests feed on the root of the plant which causes a dramatic deterioration in the health and appearance of your lawn. Two common lawn pests are the Leatherjacket and Chafer Grubs however we also have solutions for ants and wasps.

Disease control

Our climate is very changeable and unfortunately this encourages an array of lawn diseases. Most of these are treatable with the correct application of fertiliser along with the correct management of aeration or scarification. The perfect way to limited disease is to keep your lawn as healthy as possible, we will monitor your lawn on each visit if you are part of a seasonal treatment plan or if you would like a FREE review.

Other Services

Lawnscience Winchester lawn care, also undertake a number of different services and provide varying products to help your lawn flourish. Some of these include growth retardants, water converser and top dressing. We also provide wasp nest treatment, gutter cleaning, hard surface moss control, bed and border fertilisation and power washing.

5 Season treatment plan includes (premium package)

Spring Treatment

As your lawn emerges from its Winter dormancy the requirement for nutrients starts to increase. This is the perfect time to apply your first annual fertiliser containing Nitrogen and Magnesium. These two nutrients gently manage the early growth of your lawn at the same time improving its color. We also apply a soil conditioner targeting root development and turf health. A selective herbicide is applied to control early weed germination. We review your lawn’s condition concentrating on the prevention of summer fungal disease and insect attack.

Early Summer Treatment

At this time of the year, your lawn is in its peak growth period. As a result, it requires an additional Nitrogen boost along with other nutrients in order to maintain its lush green colour.  A soil conditioner is applied, which targets root development and turf health revitalising the appearance of your lawn.  We apply a selective herbicide treatment to control the more difficult weeds. We review the condition of your lawn concentrating on cutting heights and irrigation.

Late Summer Treatment

During Summer your lawn’s growth rate slows due to the warm weather. It still has a requirement for a balanced fertilisation application. We pay careful attention to the local weather conditions and will either apply a granular or liquid treatment, whichever is the most appropriate for your lawn. We also apply a soil conditioner that targets root development and turf health revitalising the appearance of your lawn.  A spot herbicide treatment will be applied to stubborn weeds that may remain on your lawn. We review the condition of your lawn concentrating on sward density and soil condition.

Autumn Treatment

During Autumn the fertilisation requirements of your lawn change therefore we use a granular fertiliser containing less Nitrogen and increased levels of Potassium to toughen up the cells’ walls and provide protection against fungal disease. We also apply a soil conditioner that targets root development and turf health revitalising the appearance of your lawn. We review your lawn’s condition concentrating on sward density and soil condition.

Winter Treatment

Our Winter Treatment focuses on the control of moss. This treatment does not stimulate growth during this dormant stage, but it maintains a dark green colour.  We also apply a soil conditioner that targets root development and turf health revitalising the appearance of your lawn We review the condition of your lawn concentrating on potential fungal disease.
