Lawnscience continues to strengthen its network with the addition of five new business owners

Essex: Liam Dotson

Liam has left behind a career in broadcast news after almost a decade in the industry. He’s most recently been a News Editor at 5 News. He now owns the Lawnscience Essex business which launches in March 2025.

Liam said: “I’m really excited to be given the opportunity to launch my own business with Lawnscience. I’ve left an industry that was shrinking under financial pressures to one that is growing with seemingly endless earning potential. The chance to grow my own business and be my own boss was simply too good to down. The training with Terry was invaluable and he really sets you up to succeed. From the practical side of things to the marketing and state-of-the-art software, you are given all the tools you need to flourish in the lawn care industry. It’s a totally new challenge for me, but I can’t wait to get started!

North East: Phil Griffin

Phil Griffin joins us having worked for a number of the UK’s best-known banks during a successful 28-year career in financial services. He now starts the next chapter in his career as the Lawnscience franchisee for the North East of England. Launching in April 2025, Phil will provide lawn care services in  Sunderland, Washington, Durham, and the surrounding areas. Phil commented “It’s always been an ambition of mine to utilise the finance and service skills, gained in my previous career, by starting my own business. Combining these skills with my love of the outdoors made Lawnscience the perfect opportunity for me after spending most of my career working in an office environment. During Covid people’s gardens very much became an extra “room” to their property as they started to spend more time outdoors and utilise this space more than they had previously. I’m very much looking forward to getting to know prospective customers in my area and making a visible difference to their lawns, contributing to an outside space they can enjoy.

North Notts: Mark Williams

Mark reached a crossroads in his career after nearly 30 years working within a highly specialised IT sector. Notable achievements have included helping to shape the language recognition capabilities that we now use every day in the form of Siri and Alexa. Mark said: “After decades working under huge pressure in a rapidly evolving market, I decided that I was looking for a position that gave me the ability to control my own work/life balance, spend time away from a desk, indulge my passion for working with nature and plants, while still enjoying significant earning potential. When I came across Lawnscience and Terry it was immediately apparent that this was the opportunity I had been seeking. Terry was extraordinarily patient with my questions, and made certain that I had all the information I needed in order to make an informed decision. This is a huge departure for me, but the training has been first-rate, I feel set up for success and am very much looking forward to this new and very different chapter in my life.”

Lewis joins us from a background in greenkeeping having worked on elite-level golf courses in England, Scotland, Dubai and the USA during his career. He’s taking over the Lawnscience Wirral business and will commence trading in March 2025.

Lewis said “I had some amazing times greenkeeping in some fantastic locations and learnt a lot of skills, but I’m now at a stage in my life where I felt I had achieved everything I wanted to in that industry and that my ambitions have changed. A franchise with Lawnscience seemed the ideal opportunity for myself to utilise the practical skills I have picked up from greenkeeping while also challenging the business side of my brain. When I was younger I completed a degree in Accounting & Finance but I have always loved working outside. So once I was made aware of this opportunity with Lawnscience it was something I was immensely attracted to. Terry has filled me with every confidence that I have made the right decision, through answering all my initial questions while also providing training and guidance that is second to none. He has been there and done it all himself so learning from his experience is tremendously valuable. I’m really excited to get started in March and start giving customers in my area a lawn they can be proud of.”

Coulsdon: Marcus De Ville

After an early career as an engineer in the defense industry, Marcus has spent the last 27 years working in media relations and communications in Whitehall and more recently in the corporate sector. Now the proud owner of Lawnscience Coulsdon, Marcus will be providing lawn care services including in Cheam, South Sutton, Carshalton, Purley, South Croydon, Warlingham, Waldingham, Caterham, Bletchingley, Redhill, Reigate, Chipstead and Coulsdon.

Marcus said “I have always taken great pride in caring for my own lawn and am looking forward to turning this private obsession into a business. With the training and support of Terry and the Lawnscience team, I now have the professional lawn care skills to assist people in my local area to obtain lush green lawns of their own. And I am sure these will be the envy of all their neighbours.
